For 80 years, the Jessie Dyslin Ranch has been a place where young people heal, learn and grow.
Despite its changing character over time, it has always been a “ranch” to raise children and build their character. It is a rural oasis in the midst of the increasingly urban landscape of Pierce County, dedicated to helping children find their place in life.
Our counselors look for the special way to reach every child who crosses our threshold, knowing the time they spend with us will shape their lives and has the potential to transform their families. A lot of what we do is just get out of the way and let the environment work on our students and children.
If you visited Dyslin Ranch fifty, twenty-five or even five years ago, you’ll notice that some things have changed.
The children go home at night. Our counseling staff has grown and become more diverse.
Our 31 acres are versatile and can be arranged and rearranged as needed to accommodate our current programs. We have outdoor recreation spaces and landscaped meditation gardens. We have space for woodshops, dance and music studios, classrooms, conference rooms and computer labs on the inside.
We host gatherings of service providers and train foster parents, provide space for youth community group activities and offer adult classes.
