The Toy March

A repeat of last year's incredible event!  Last year this event was success beyond our meager dreams.  This year we hope to be distributing gifts to a dozen organizations, with enough donations this year to provide presents to at least as many children and families as we were able to serve last year.  We definitely need volunteer help to distribute the toys, as well as to match, wrap and tag them.

THANK YOU Fort Lewis 555!!!

Our 2007 Annual Holiday Giving and Toy Drive culminated in a party on December 22nd that was attended by the Fort Lewis Triple Nickel, our generous benefactors.

Thanks to the soldiers, our Bingo Hall patrons and Owen Bunstein’s Northwest Alliance for foster children we were able to serve foster children placed by our program, as well as Catholic Community Services, Rainbow Youth Services and A Place Called Hope.  We were able to also include children from MLKHDA’s emergency and low income housing programs, hospitalized children in Olympia, Tacoma and Seattle, and children in the family emergency & homeless shelters and programs in Thurston and Pierce counties.  The last minute surprise donation of two hams and a turkey resulted in a very festive holiday party for the children, the soldiers and all the families who made it to the Ranch (even Santa Claus).

All in all, through this program we were a GATEWAY for these donors to provide holiday presents (toys, clothes and small electronics) for 350 children, many of whom would otherwise have gone without.
